The 27th Latin Grammy Awards will be held Thursday, Nov. 12, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, broadcast live on Univision, and the nominations announced Sept. 16 set up a crowded race at the top. Four acts lead the general field with seven nods each: Rosalía, Karol G, Jorge Drexler and the Argentine duo CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso. Behind them, the producer Edgar Barrera has the most nominations of anyone, with 10.

The numbers

The Latin Recording Academy announced nominees in 60 categories. According to the Associated Press, Rosalía, Karol G, Drexler and CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso each received seven nominations and compete in the album, song and record of the year categories. Silvana Estrada and Mon Laferte follow with six each, Milo J has five, and Arath Herce, a best new artist nominee, has four. Barrera's 10 include producer and composer of the year and two nods for song of the year.

Nominees were drawn from recordings released between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026. Final voting by Latin Recording Academy members ran from Oct. 1 to Oct. 12, so voting has closed and winners will be revealed at the broadcast.

Album of the year

The ten nominees, as published by the Recording Academy, are EQUILIBRIVM by Anitta, FREE SPIRITS by CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, Taracá by Jorge Drexler, Vendrán Suaves Lluvias by Silvana Estrada, Tropicoqueta by Karol G, FEMME FATALE by Mon Laferte, MUDA by Carín León, La Vida Era Más Corta by Milo J, ¿Dónde Es El After? by Rawayana and LUX (Complete Works) by Rosalía.

The four leaders

Rosalía's LUX (Complete Works), described by the AP as a multilingual album inspired by the lives of female saints, is nominated for album of the year. Her song La Perla, featuring Yahritza y Su Esencia, is up for record and song of the year; the AP reports she has said it was inspired by Paquita la del Barrio's Rata de dos patas. She has 11 Latin Grammys already.

Karol G's Tropicoqueta is a fusion of Latin urban music with merengue, salsa, bachata and even technocumbia, in the AP's description. Her duet with Marco Antonio Solís, Coleccionando heridas, is nominated for record and song of the year.

Drexler is the Latin Grammys' top winner with 16, the AP reports. His Taracá is nominated for album, and ¿Cómo se ama? for record and song of the year.

CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, who won five Latin Grammys last year, are nominated for FREE SPIRITS and for the song Hasta Jesús Tuvo Un Mal Día, which features Sting.

Other storylines

The best new artist field grew to 11 nominees after the academy changed eligibility to artists with fewer than three albums or 25 singles released, the AP reports. The nominees are Delilah, FABIAN, Loulu Gilberto, Arath Herce, Macario Martínez, maye, Sofia Monroy, Kendall Peña, Dora Sanches, ARIA VEGA and Zeca Veloso.

Daddy Yankee will be honored as Person of the Year, the first Latin urban artist to receive that distinction, according to the AP.

The record of the year field also includes Alma by Elena Rose, Desde Que Te Tengo by Carín León, Niño by Milo J and Dime by Silvana Estrada, alongside the songs above.

Why this matters in New York

Latin music has become a fixture of American arenas and streaming charts, and the field shows its range: reggaeton and tropical fusion from Karol G, alternative rock and rap from CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, singer-songwriter work from Drexler and Estrada, and regional Mexican music throughout. The nominations list also includes categories for ranchero, banda, Tejano, norteño and contemporary Mexican music.

For readers who want to listen before the broadcast, the album of the year list is a ready-made playlist, and the song categories offer shorter entry points.

What we could not confirm

We read the AP report as published by The Washington Post and the academy's full nominations list. We did not open NPR's takeaways or Billboard's list. We did not verify claims about artists' histories beyond the AP's text, and we cannot predict winners.
